The role:


BH Live is recruiting for a General Manger to lead The Quays Swimming & Diving Complex, one of the South Coast's premier aquatic venues, through an exciting period of change and improvement. The Quays is one of only four High Performance Centres for diving in the UK.


There is a 10m diving board with an 18m diving pool, with public swim sessions and swimming lessons taking place in a separate 25m main pool. Waterslides offer splashing fun for families and individuals, feeding into The Lagoon pool complete with interactive water features.


The Quay Swimming & Diving Complex sits at the heart of our health and wellbeing offer in the city, with referral and aquatic wellness programmes supporting people across the community.

You will lead our teams and make sure every customer and member experiences the best of what The Quays offers. As we invest in the facility and raise our ambitions, we need a General Manager who can drive performance while keeping operational discipline and customer experience at the centre of everything you do.


You will:


  • Have full accountability for the centre including ownership for the centre’s profit and loss (P&L), delivery of service standards, leading the team and compliance with Health & Safety procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong commercial understanding of the product and product market, seeking ways to generate and build on revenue.
  • In partnership with marketing, understand the customer journey, respond to customer satisfaction levels and deliver a product that creates customer loyalty with return visits.
  • Promote the development of a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure the safe delivery of activities across all sites through compliance with health and safety procedures.



To be successful you will need:


  • Commercial acumen with experience of managing P&L budgets and driving income.
  • An eye for detail and high personal standards, with the resilience to lead a site through change and improvement.
  • Leadership and coaching experience of managing a large team of colleagues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety, ideally including pool plant and aquatic operations.
  • To be able to work a combination of shifts during the week and need to be available to work some weekends, supporting and leading The Quays when it’s at its busiest.


This role would suit an experienced General Manager or a Deputy General Manager ready for their next career step.
