The role:


We are recruiting for an Area Technical Operations Manager to lead the day to day running of the technical operations team across all BH Live Sites in Southampton.


BH Live operates leisure facilities across this vibrant and lively port city in partnership with Southampton City Council. In line with the council’s ‘We Can Be Active’ strategy, we provide excellent leisure facilities and hundreds of activities for all ages and abilities to inspire and support more communities to be active.


Centres include The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex, Bitterne Leisure Centre, Chamberlayne Leisure Centre and Southampton Outdoor Sports Centre.


You will:


· Lead and manage members of the technical operations team directly under your supervision, ensuring that all team members are competent to undertake their required duties and are trained and developed to increase their effectiveness with regards to technical operations. Carry out annual reviews on staff and ensure they receive relevant training to fulfil their job roles.

· Collaborate with Centres Operations team to ensure compliance and maintenance tasks are fulfilled with minimum disruption to the customer in a safe managed way.

· Manage the delivery of all aspects of Technical Operations within the designated contract/facilities including aspects of Facilities Management (FM), Utilities & Environmental Management and Technical Health and Safety Management.

· Manage the on-site organisation and delivery of reactive maintenance actions and repairs to both plant and the building fabric of all facilities within the designated contract including MAIN code expenditure and related financial controls.

· Manage the on-site organisation and delivery of the asset management schedules ensuring that high risk and statutory service obligations are prioritised and delivered in a timely manner.

· Work closely with the Corporate Health and Safety Team to develop a robust safety culture, maintaining, developing and promoting Health & Safety to ensuring that BH Live is providing the highest standards of health and safety to its workforce, contractors and customers.

To be successful you will need:


· Operational experience of providing a comprehensive maintenance service to a complex portfolio of facilities.

· Experience of developing a performance management and continuous improvement culture.

· Knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance service provision, building fabric maintenance and maintenance service software and Building Environmental Control systems (BEMS) specifically trend software.

· A flexible approach to working hours will be required, which may include evening, weekend and Bank Holiday working.



Ideally you will have experience of working within a management technical role in a leisure or entertainment environment.
